Privacy Policy

Bookhood is a book tracking app and this website, bookhood.app. Contact: hello@bookhood.app.

This policy describes two separate things: the website (bookhood.app) and the Bookhood iPhone app. They collect different data.

• What we collect: an email address, only if you voluntarily submit it to the early-access form. We also store the time you submitted it, the time you gave consent, and the source of the signup (for example, "homepage").
• Where it is stored: in a managed PostgreSQL database provided by Supabase, operating on Lovable Cloud infrastructure. Supabase acts as our hosting and data processor for this list.
• Why: only to send you Bookhood launch and product updates. We do not sell, rent or share your email address, and we do not use it for advertising.
• Unsubscribe and deletion: every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email hello@bookhood.app at any time and ask us to remove your address; we will delete it from the early-access list.
• Cookies and analytics: this website does not set analytics or advertising cookies and does not run a third-party analytics script. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.
• Server logs: our hosting provider may process standard technical request data (such as IP address and user agent) in order to serve and secure the site.

• Local storage: in the current version, your library, reading history, sessions and goals are stored locally on your device. There is no Bookhood account and no cloud sync in this version.
• Camera: Bookhood requests camera access so you can scan a book's ISBN/barcode, photograph its spine, or photograph its cover. These photos or scans are stored locally on your device as part of your library, unless you delete them in the app.
• Book metadata: when you search for a book or scan a barcode, the search text or ISBN may be sent to Google Books and/or Open Library so we can return the correct edition, cover and details.
• Payments: purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment card details.
• Entitlements: RevenueCat manages purchase and subscription entitlement information for the app. To do this, RevenueCat receives purchase and subscription data and device or app-level identifiers associated with your purchase.
• No advertising: Bookhood contains no advertising SDKs and does not build advertising profiles.

We rely on the following third parties. Each has its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to read them:

• Supabase / Lovable Cloud — hosting of the early-access list and website.
• Google Books — book metadata lookups.
• Open Library (Internet Archive) — book metadata lookups.
• Apple — App Store distribution and payment processing.
• RevenueCat — purchase and subscription entitlement management.

We process early-access emails on the basis of your consent, given when you submit the form. App data is processed to provide the functionality you request (finding a book, tracking a session, unlocking a purchase).

Early-access emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, or until the early-access programme ends and the list is no longer needed. App data lives on your device and is removed when you delete the data in-app or delete the app.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights for the early-access list, email hello@bookhood.app. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

For app data, you are in control directly: it is stored on your device, and you can reset it in the app or by deleting the app.

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Bookhood is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted an email address to us, contact hello@bookhood.app and we will delete it.

We may update this policy as Bookhood develops. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. Material changes affecting the early-access list will be communicated by email.
